
Sometimes there is nothing better than dancing. Dancing lifts up your spirits and invigorates your mind and body. We start doing it as babies bouncing up and down to any beat and continue through our childhood (I was know to cover myself in stickers and really just rock out) and into our teen years. My sister and I would jump on our beds and dance around. Music and dance were a part of our everyday lives. But often as we get older and life becomes more demanding we tend to put away that fun and free spirit and dance in our lives becomes a thing of the past. It is time to bring it back.
Dancing is a wonderfully fun way to put in some stress relief and fitness into our day. I don't care if you take a class or turn on the radio and shake it, we need to move. It doesn't matter how good you are it is all about having fun. Dancing makes you feel like a Goddess. It celebrates and liberates your body and gives you the freedom to express your spirit. Dance is art. When you move to the music you are creating art. However you are feeling on any given day can be expressed through your dance. Mad, sad, happy, peaceful maybe a little sexy? Just let it all go!
Try finding a few classes in your area. Many places will let you try one class for a fraction of the cost or even for free just so you can see if you enjoy it. Since there are so many different forms of dance each week I will have a new post exploring the world of dance. Maybe you will find one that you like. If you are simply not comfortable with a class setting than there are plenty of other ways you can embrace dance. There are numerous dance DVDs you can try if you are interested in the technicality of it all. There are places like salsa cabanas you can go to just to dance your own way and have a good time with some girlfriends and maybe even your special someone. And of course you are always welcome to just dance alone in the privacy of your own home or room. Sometimes that is when you have the most fun!
This week I want everyone to let go for just a moment and dance. Celebrate your love for life and move to the music! I promise you will feel happier and healthier. When you find something that you love share it!
